Clean-Up Day - Saturday, August 6 - NO Goodwill

UPDATE: Goodwill will NOT be at the event.

We are very sorry to let you know that Goodwill is unable to accept donations at the Neighborhood Clean-Up Day tomorrow, August 6th. Goodwill has recently experienced major staffing shortages due to a relocation and has cancelled all of their upcoming donation drives, including ours. The rest of the Clean-Up Day will proceed as usual. We are doing our best to find another donation collection service for the October Clean-Up Day and will keep you posted.

In the meantime, please feel free to drop off your donations at Goodwill’s location in Redwood City:

  • Chavez Supermarket @ 46 5th Ave, Redwood City
  • Open: 8:30 am – 5 pm on Saturday & Sunday

For specific donation items, you may find the County’s Advanced Search Option on the Recycleworks.org page useful: http://www.recycleworks.org/cgi-bin/bin/user/advanced_query.pl

Neighborhood Clean-Up Day
Saturday, August 6th from 8 to 11 am (no items accepted after 11 am)

Do you have old computer monitors, electronic equipment, lawn furniture, pots and pans, etc. that need to be cleaned out of your garage or home? Would you like to safely dispose of old or expired medications? The Town of Portola Valley and GreenWaste have partnered with Goodwill to incorporate a “Give ‘n Go” station as part of the Neighborhood Clean-Up Day. A Sheriff’s Office Deputy will also be at the event to collect old medications. Please review the mailer insert and load your vehicle accordingly!

This event is free for Portola Valley residents:  please note – you will need to bring a copy of your GreenWaste garbage bill or the mailer insert as proof of residency.

The mailer insert describes the kinds of things that are accepted, as well as those items that are not. Please note that hazardous materials will not be accepted at this Neighborhood Clean-Up Day event. Please call the County of San Mateo Household Hazardous Waste Program at 650.363.4718 or visit http://events.smhealth.org/events/ to schedule a drop-off appointment. Also, you may wish to note that the Town will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal event here in Portola Valley on October 8, 2016.

For more information or questions, please contact Brandi de Garmeaux at (650) 851-1700, ext. 222 or contact GreenWaste directly at (650) 568-9900.
