Peninsula Clean Energy Launches in Portola Valley
This April, Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) will become Portola Valley’s official electricity provider, and that’s reason to celebrate. Because after April, every residence and every business will have 100% access to clean and renewable energy.
That is certainly good news in itself, but what makes it exceptional is that your current electric rates will be minimally affected.
Here are the details:
To start, your household will be automatically enrolled in Peninsula Clean Energy’s ECO100 program. This means 100% of your electricity will automatically come from renewable, carbon-free sources like wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower. So, in essence, you still get the same dependable electrical service you’ve always enjoyed, just at a much smaller cost to the planet (your energy bill will be minimally affected—just a few extra dollars a month).
Now if you’d prefer to opt down, PCE also offers ECOplus, a program that delivers at least 50% renewable electricity to customers (at a cost that actually totals out to a little less than your old PG&E bill).
Remember, PG&E will still be responsible for delivery of the electricity and maintaining power lines to your house, so you’ll have no disruption in service.
Look for the first notification letter from PCE within the next few weeks, and if you have any questions about the changeover, Portola Valley Town Staff is available to assist. Contact our Sustainability & Special Projects Manager, Brandi de Garmeaux (firstname.lastname@example.org or 650-851-1700 ext. 222) or attend one of the upcoming informational workshops we are hosting in the Historic Schoolhouse in March:
Thursday, March 9th at 6 pm
Saturday, March 11th at 10 am*
*Residents with solar net metering questions are encouraged to attend the Saturday morning session.
