Each year in March, the Town's Conservation Committee
sponsors a broom pull along Portola Valley's public roadways. French broom may look pretty when it is in bloom, but it is very invasive and highly flammable. Annual pulling at this time of year goes a long way toward reducing the spread of this non-native plant.
If you can spare a few hours to join us this Saturday, March 9th, please meet at the Historic Schoolhouse at the Town Center at 9:00 am. Wear gloves, long sleeves and pants; tools and refreshments will be provided.
NOTE: If you are not able to come on Saturday, please help this eradication effort by checking your own property for French broom and pulling it out by the roots. It is easier to accomplish this task now while the ground is soft than it will be in another month when the ground has dried out.
