"Fun With Figures"

Free Math Workshops!

Fun with Figures - eSponsored by the Nature & Science Committee, this second in a three-part series of math workshops will focus on e, the "growth" number first discovered in the 1500's during a study of compound interest. Not so widely known as pi (3.14159 . . .), which was the focus of the Jan 17th workshop, e enters into a wide range of subjects, including finance, probability and statistics, electrical and mechanical engineering, physics, the life sciences, and population studies.

A most surprising fact is the very simple but profound connection between pi, e, and i which will be included in the final workshop scheduled for March 28th.

There was a lively turnout for our pi Workshop in January - about 25 people in all joined in the fun! The young students proved very bright and quick in their responses to the subject matter!
Please do join us for the upcoming “Fun with e” evening on February 28th which will be led by Paul Heiple and George Comstock.

For more information on this three-part series, please read the news article "Fun With Figures". Or you may contact George Comstock at comstockge@sbcglobal.net Final workshop to be on Thursday, March 28.
