Bird Discovery Day

Bird DayCome see live birds including a bald eagle plus other native and exotic birds, including chickens. On exhibit will be diverse nests from a wide variety of birds and an amazing array of feathers to enjoy and examine under microscopes, plus samples and information on bird eggs. The library is providing an assortment of bird books and related children’s story time and activities. There will be experts on native bird species, including water birds and raptors, to share specimens and information, and a vet will answer questions about the care of birds.

“Early birds” can put together their own bird feeders and learn about building bluebird houses. Information about West Nile virus and other hazards birds face will also be available. There will be some amazing information about the origins of birds. And, of course, since most birds fly, there will be a chance to explore a bit about flight.
Then for the gardeners, there will be a display of plants that may attract birds to your garden. For artists, there will be books of Audubon prints and other bird inspired art and photography. And, for your convenience, the local Girl Scout troop will have refreshments available for purchase as well as The Grilled Cheese Bandits Food Truck http://www.grilledcheesebandits.com/images/gcb_menu.pdf
