The 50th anniversary of Portola Valley's incorporation as a town is reason to celebrate. Come join us for an evening of performing arts showcasing the talents of the people of Portola Valley. This is a joint venture with Woodside Priory, who have offered their wonderful performing arts center for the evening. There will be an exhibit of artwork by kids in the advanced placement studio program in the Kriewall-Haehl Gallery and an impressive line-up of talent in the Rothrock Performance Hall.
We have some amazing artists living, learning and working in our midst, and as part of Portola Valley's season of 50th anniversary celebrations, a selection of our many talented residents will be coming together, young and old, professional and up-and-coming to entertain us and remind us of how truly remarkable this town is. Here are some of the wonderful performers who will entertain us that night.
• There will be several local rock bands: The local band with the greatest Portola Valley name, Los Trancolizers will perform a selection of classic rock; Sigmund and Beth will show you their softer side, and you will also enjoy Portola Valley's own scream-worthy, boy band Dynasty.
• Todd Johnson and Judi Jaeger will bring their own alt-Nor-Cal style of original songs where folk and roots music meet.
• Corte Madera's Mr. Frederick and his All-Student Brigade will sing three, new songs, a wonderful opportunity for his past students to get a chance to perform again with him.
• Beloved local teachers and professional musicians, Ronny Crawford and Ric Louchard will perform an eclectic array of music with their ensemble including a jazzy, modern piece which premiered this January at the Berkeley Arts Festival.
• There are a number of young musicians who show such outstanding talent that it makes one eager to see where music takes them in life. Shane Turner is well known around town for his remarkable, early talent, and he'll be performing a medley of songs. Ali Myers is a young singer, song writer of such promise you may one day say you saw her here first! Lily Morse will perform with her father, and though she is the youngest of all our performers, she is a force to be reckoned with.
It would be satisfying to keep describing the other talented musicians who will be there that night; there are so many great ones, Ray Rothrock, Eva El Fishawy...!! but it is better that you just come see them all. It will be a wonderful evening of music and a celebration of our town and its people. You will not want to miss it.
