Neighborhood Clean-Up Day - Saturday, Oct 1

Neighborhood Clean-Up Day
Saturday, October 1st from 8 to 11 am (no items accepted after 11 am)

Get ready for the Neighborhood Clean-Up Day of the year! A Sheriff’s Office Deputy will be at the event to collect old medications. Please review the mailer insert and load your vehicle accordingly! This event is free for Portola Valley residents - you will need to bring a copy of your GreenWaste garbage bill or the mailer insert as proof of residency.

Please note - Goodwill will not be at the October Clean-Up Day. The Town and GreenWaste were unable to identify a donation partner for October’s Clean-Up Day. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue the search to identify a partner for next year’s events. Use San Mateo County's search tool to look for alternate donation options.

Hazardous materials are not accepted at the Neighborhood Clean-Up Day, but the Town is co-sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event here in Portola Valley on October 8, 2016. Accepted items include cleaning products, fertilizers, pesticides, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), paint, acids/bases, aerosol cans, automotive supplies (car batteries, motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, brake fluid), inks, and photo chemicals. All waste collected is reused, recycled, or stabilized for proper disposal to achieve zero waste and prevent any items from going to the landfill and contaminating our water and soil. No radioactive, explosive, medical or commercial waste is allowed.

To participate in the Household Hazardous Waste Collection, you must schedule an appointment at San Mateo County’s HHW Program: www.smchealth.org/hhw or by calling (650) 363-4718, select option 3. The event location will be disclosed once your appointment has been confirmed.

For more information or questions, please contact Brandi de Garmeaux at (650) 851-1700, ext. 222 or contact GreenWaste directly at (650) 568-9900.
