PV Communications & Ham Radio Field Day
Saturday, June 25 from 9 am to 3 pm
Portola Valley Town Center - patio between the Library & Town Hall
Download the event flyer here.
The PV Emergency Preparedness Committee, CERPP, Woodside Fire Protection District and interested citizens will be demonstrating radio communications in association with the American Radio Relay League Field Day. Communications are critical in all emergency situations. In a severe emergency in Portola Valley, cell phones and landline telephones probably will not work. That means word of mouth, and radio will be primary source of information. Portola Valley does have an AM radio station at 1680 kHz on your AM dial in your car or home.
If you are an amateur radio operator, a CERPP member, or just an interested citizen, come down and see how it all works. Come see how your town can respond to the needs of its citizens with a communication network and capability.
For all you hams out there, we will be on the air with W6CAR as the call sign. And we’ll be monitoring 146.52 direct for talk-in.
We look forward to seeing you all. Bring your friends, your neighbors, and your CERPP and amateur radios.
