Star Party

Friday, August 5th beginning at 8:00 pm

Portola Valley Town Center - Soccer Field & Alder Room

The Portola Valley Nature & Science Committee is once again hosting a star party at the Town Center on Friday, August 5th beginning at 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to do guided viewing through telescopes provided by local amateur volunteers.

Visitors are encouraged to wear warm clothes. If you use a flashlight, please cover it with red cellophane and avoid pointing at people's eyes so they do not lose their dark adaptation. We will be setting up between the soccer and softball fields and in the Alder Room for astronomy related activities. Children and families are welcome.

There will also be a workshop for people who own telescopes and would like some help in learning how to more effectively use them for astronomy. Feel free to bring in your own equipment for some hands on help.
