Lecture - Bats, Bugs and Biodiversity

Bats, Bugs & Biodiversity
Thursday, September 1st @ 7:00 pm
Town Center - Community Hall

Popular myths and misconceptions have meant that bats are among the most misunderstood animals on earth. Yet these remarkable creatures play a major role in maintaining a healthy environment and are significant contributors to biodiversity. Bats exhibit a huge diversity in size, diet and behavior – ranging from the 1g bumblebee bat to the 1kg flying fox.

In his talk, Jon Flanders, a visiting scholar at Stanford, will use examples from his research to give insight into the lives of these fascinating creatures and what methods are being used to study them, including work that is being done at Jasper Ridge and in Portola Valley.

Sponsored by the Portola Valley Nature & Science Committee.
