Notice of Planning Commission Public Hearing
Modifications to the Accessory Dwelling Unit (Secondary Dwelling Unit) Ordinance
On April 19, 2017, the Planning Commission will review proposed modifications to the Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance in accordance with Government Code Section 65852.2 which mandates greater flexibility for the creation of accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
The Planning Commission was directed to review ADU issues by the Town Council to examine ways to increase housing opportunities for seniors who wish to stay in Portola Valley, teachers, public safety and government workers, and other vital community members who have been impacted by the ongoing housing crisis.
Proposed modifications include increasing the size limit of ADUs, reducing parking requirements, and applying owner occupancy/short term rental restrictions on new units. We are seeking public input and invite you to attend the hearing scheduled on April 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic School House, 765 Portola Road, Portola Valley, CA 94028.
