Bring the whole family to look at the stars through telescopes provided by experienced amateur astronomers Andrew Pierce, Jim McClure, and others. Bring a flashlight with a red cover and wear warm clothes. Additional astronomy-related activities (including a workshop on how to observe with your own equipment - bring it in for hands on help!) will be provided in the nearby Buckeye room.

The objectives of the Nature & Science Committee are to increase appreciation for Portola Valley's natural environment by:

Providing opportunities for residents and visitors to observe and study local natural history
Encouraging scientific dialog and promoting scientific literacy in the community
Providing information to the community about science, technology, and natural history through
- After-school classes
- Evening and weekend programs
- Sharing of local natural history archives
- Preservation of local plant, animal, and geologic specimens
