The Town of Portola Valley street infrastructure consists of approximately 35 miles of streets, and hundreds of street signs. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the quality of Portola Valley’s streets
  • Installing and replacing street signs, guardrails, and street markings such as stop bars
  • Repairing sections of the street damaged by tree roots and collapsed asphalt
  • Repairing potholes
  • Performing maintenance on public rights of way along the roads
  • Inspecting private improvements in the right of way (encroachment permits)

In the event of a fallen tree or other roadway issue, residents may:

  • Contact the Public Works Department using PV Connect.
  • After hours and on weekends, please call the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department at (650) 363-4911. In the event of injury or emergency, call 911
