In April 2017, Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) will become Portola Valley’s official electricity provider, and that’s reason to celebrate. Because after April, every residence and every business will have 100% access to clean and renewable energy.

That is certainly good news in itself, but what makes it exceptional is that your current electric rates will be minimally affected.

Here are the details:ECO100_logo-button
To start, your household will be automatically enrolled in Peninsula Clean Energy’s ECO100 program. This means 100% of your electricity will automatically come from renewable, carbon-free sources like wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower. So, in essence, you still get the same dependable electrical service you’ve always enjoyed, just at a much smaller cost to the planet (your energy bill will be minimally affected—just a few extra dollars a month).

Now if you’d prefer to opt down, PCE also offers ECOplus, a program that delivers at least 50% renewable electricity to customers (at a cost that actually totals out to a little less than your old PG&E bill).

Remember, PG&E will still be responsible for delivery of the electricity and maintaining power lines to your house, so you’ll have no disruption in service.

If you have any questions about the changeover, Portola Valley Town Staff is available to assist. Contact our Assistant to the Town Manager, Brandi de Garmeaux (bdegarmeaux@portolavalley.net or 650-851-1700 ext. 222).

And finally, thank you for your commitment to an energy-efficient Portola Valley, and a cleaner world.
