Understanding that climate change is both a global and a local challenge, a group of concerned Portola Valley residents have decided to pull together some of the country’s best thinkers on the issue and challenge their fellow community members to identify ways that they can help, or possibly even lead. The event will feature Nobel Prize winner Terry Root, a Stanford professor and leading expert on climate change, and how it is impacting wildlife. She will be joined by Stanford associate professor Nicole Ardoin and Joe Ryan, vice president of climate for the National Audubon Society.
The PV Climate Summit will begin with the panel of scientists and experts discussing the current research and information. But soon the attendees will break up into groups around round tables to brainstorm local solutions. Among the questions these groups will answer are: What do we want Portola Valley to look like in 2020 and 2050? What are some things that we can do at our homes and in our community to get us there? How can Portola Valley be a part of California’s leadership on climate change?
