Portola Valley Residents Patty Ann and Jim White have submitted an application to the Town of Portola Valley to construct a 13-unit multifamily residential community known as Willow Commons to be located at 4388 Alpine Road. The project intends to provide supportive housing and associated services for adults with intellectual or developmental delays (IDD). This includes 11 one-bedroom apartments to be offered at an affordable rate, and 2 ADUs for program managing staff to live on site. The proposal includes two supportive buildings which including common areas for residents, and a coffee shop to provide vocational job training to residents of Willow Commons. This is a full site development located in the Administrative -Professional Zoning District in the Nathorst Triangle Area. The proposal utilizes the legal provisions of California’s Density Bonus and Supportive Housing Laws that have been put into place over the last several years to enable the creation of permanent and affordable supportive housing.
