Minutes and Agendas

Annual Broom Pull

French BroomMark your calendar and bring your gloves! PV's Annual Broom Pull will be held on Saturday March 5 from 9 am to 12 noon. The Conservation Committee invites volunteers to join in removing this highly invasive plant from town owned/public land.

We will meet at 9 am at the Historic Schoolhouse to organize volunteer groups for different locations.  Tools, cookies and water will be provided, but please bring your own gloves. The recent rains have softened the ground, so we expect to have perfect conditions.

While broom is pretty in bloom, it is highly invasive and crowds out the native vegetation. The goal in removing broom is to avoid its spread into open space. Easter broom, scotch broom, spanish broom and french broom are on on the town's "Strongly Discouraged" plants list.
